Fantasizing about building a members club in Ibiza
+Another LVMH Ventures investment, Burberry, creative director shuffles, & more
Happy Friday everyone, and welcome back to The Stanza.
Last night I went to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Luca Faloni, an Italian menswear brand operated out of London. Luca started his namesake brand after 3.5 years as a consultant at Bain post LSE, and apparently runs his brand as such - no PE or VC investors, just a small consortium of family offices, and steady growth. The dinner was hosted at Cracco and therefore the food was excellent. But more importantly, the vibes were actually what any new members club in Milan should be - international, growth mindset, ambitious, charming, etc:
I know I’ve been shilling the Substack app to the point of cringe but really, if you love The Stanza then you need to be on it. I don’t always answer IG DM’s or cold emails but I will most definitely answer on Substack chat. Expect to see threads for everyone to chat about favorite hotels, members club gossip, AMA’s, interview guest questions, and whatever else would be useful / satisfying.
Thanks to everyone who tuned into the interview I published this week with David Fischer, founder of Highsnobiety. If you’re a consumer behavior nerd, then you’ll definitely enjoy this one and last week’s episode with Juliana Salazar.
Next week I’ll be interviewing Walter D’Aprile, founder of nss magazine here in Milan. Nss was founded in 2014 is the biggest independent fashion & culture publication in Italy, and despite having insider access, remains refreshingly authentic, which is easier said than done.
Walter was one of the first industry people I met in Milan and he has an admirable story - he moved to Milan from Naples with very little money, and built a national cult media platform that is the leading voice providing behind-the-scenes fashion coverage.
Our interview will focus on the current and future state of fashion, so if you have any questions you’d like to ask to someone who has insider access to conversations that will never be spoken in English (lol), feel free to either submit anonymously by replying to this email, or by responding to the thread on Substack chat, or commenting on this post, by Tuesday the 19th.
